Scope of Service: Emergency Spill Response
The client operates a large trucking terminal in New Jersey. A rupture in the saddle tank of one of the diesel tractors caused a major spill of diesel fuel at the facility. Active was contracted to contain the spill and provide cleanup services.
Upon receiving the notification, Active mobilized to the site within minutes. Once on site, Active assessed the situation, identified the source of the spill, and determined the location of potential conduits for off site migration. A course of action for containment and mitigation of the spill was implemented.
The remaining fuel in the ruptured saddle tank was removed and stored in steel drums. Absorbent pads and booms were placed in the immediate area of the spill, preventing further migration of the fuel from the source area. As the spill occurred within close proximity to a storm drain, booms were placed at the outfall of the drain system to collect any fuel that may have infiltrated that area. Waste generated in the process of the spill containment and mitigation was containerized and properly disposed at a permitted facility.
